Gordon's Café

These beautiful lamps remind me of SALT at the airport (my post here). But this is at Gordon’s Café at Hotel Le Gray, downtown Beirut (here). A lovely and colorful place, surrounded by tourists passing by to reach Weygand Street, most of them carrying cameras like me. Many visitors sit on the terrace to watch the people in the car traffic, but it’s too loud and too hot there for my taste. I’d rather sit inside and watch the beautiful details, from the lamps to the cupcakes to the cute trays. For more about this chic hotel read about the Bar Cherry here.

La nuit @ Riviera

Some weeks ago, we went for an evening walk from Rawche to Manara, quite a long march for us hop on hop off sportslovers… I thought we could easily reach Zaytounay Bay, but no, we were captured by a fashion show at the Pool Bar of Riviera Hotel (here). It was visible to everybody on the promenade, although we had to focus to see the details, like the model’s outfit colors (blue & orange) and whether one model was really carrying a baby on the catwalk (yes she was). We stayed there for half an hour, leaning over the balustrade, watching the show together with a cute lonely cat. Above is a picture from the chic & stylish bar. I didn’t sneak in that day, non, I was there some days ago!

I’ve always dreamed of having a motorcycle. I started small and bought a Vespa some years ago in Germany – but it was stolen before I even started using it! Last weekend, I was so delighted to see a huge group of bikers on the highway, one of them was even a lady. However, most women were sitting on the back seats, 100% in style of course, like a pretty lady with a superb golden helmet. Here it is, plus pictures of some other things that brought me joy recently.

Cool girl :)

Here she is, the very cool & stylish lady with the dream helmet!

Fish

Have I told you how much I love fish? I really do! Don’t they look yummy?!

A poem

A beautiful poem about French Fries at the new Casper & Gamibini’s near AUB

Emir Assaf Mosque

The beautiful Emir Assaf Mosque, one of many nice Mosques downtown Beirut

I loooooove Istanbul! One of the most beautiful cities in the world. Unbeatable. It has a very special charm, a unique atmosphere, with the Bosphorus, the pigeons, the old city, the souks, the mosques, the cafés and – the food! Ouuuf the food. You’ve seen plenty of photos of Istanbul, I’m sure, but here are phtotos of the little things that make me come back so often! The Döner is missing, by the way. It’s a Turkish meat sandwich, like shawarma, that you can find in Turkey, Germany and now Lebanon too (in Hamra). But where does it taste best? In Berlin, for sure!

Les oeufs

Cute eggs that remind me of my grandmother’s “inn” (=chicken house)

3assal :)

Delicious “3assal” that reminds me of my uncle’s beeyard, really, not kidding!

Pita?

The delicious Turkish (pita?) bread. Similar to Lebanese “khebez”, no?

Le pigeon

Watching this elegant pigeon while having breakfast

chestnuts

Roasted chestnuts, a hand full of calories – and warm happiness!

Kahva :)

Turkish coffee. Or Lebanese? Just thinking, these photos could have been in Lebanon!
