Balthazar @ Beirut Souks

When I saw these sculptures back in 2010, I totally fell in love with them! I think the sculptor, Xavier Corbero from Barcelona, really hit the right note, since they remind me just of… Lebanon. They feel like Baalbeck, the ruins of Beirut and Byblos. They feel like the old traditional houses that are spread all over Lebanon. So it always warms my heart when I see them. That’s why I also love to sit at Balthazar (here), just next to them, and have a coffee or breakfast, like I did with a cousin on Saturday. Of course I won’t mention here that it also plays an important role to know that Zara and the likes lie only one minute away! Also the famous Aishti (here), LV, Burberry, Chloé, … and Marc Jacobs (more in my next Joy Index!). So, three major pleasures combined in one place: The Beirut Souks (here)!

  1. Man, how did I miss those? I’ll have to stop by when I visit in July. Can’t wait!!! I’m taking notes on your posts so I can cram in as many meals as possible in my short 2-week stay :)

Such a nice comment! Thank you :-) I really hope you will enjoy all of them! Sahtein :-)

  2. I still haven’t managed to squeeze a table at Balthazar! The place is always packed when i am in the area. Now I definitely want to go. Anything you recommend off their menu?

You’re so right, the place is always full during the day, that’s why I prefer to have breakfast ;-) But the sweets are delicious too…
