The Maldives
Eden, paradise, heaven… There are so many synonyms for Endless Beauty. Or you can just say: The Maldives! Ouuf ouf, they are soo beautiful that it hurts. The picturesque scene of hundreds of small islands, seen from the sky, is overwhelming! As if God had sprinkled a handful of blue sapphires over the Indian Ocean! We spent four days at the amazing Hilton Iru Fushi Resort & Spa (here) that lies on its own island in the Noonu Atoll, north of the capital Male. We visited the city on our last day before heading to Sri Lanka (post later). I will leave you with these pictures… Please believe me, they are real!
The view from the Hilton lounge where we waited for the seaplane to take us to the hotel, while enjoying breakfast and a massage!
The amazing view from the seaplane. The islands are either hotel islands or inhabited by Maldivians – or virgin!
Once at the hotel, my husband surprised me with this superb water villa!
And this is one of the beach villas… Not bad at aaall!
The brochure, euh, the beach were we spent some hours the next morning..
..before heading to the water sports center. They offer sailing, jet skiing, water skiing…
…and canoeing! Of course I chose the pink one! That was really a fun experience!
One of the beautiful beach restaurants. Since there are only few of them, you should ideally reserve before your trip!
Chasing geckos the next morning, before going to collect shiny white sea shells…
…while my husband was having fun at the diving center (background). There you can take diving lessons or book an excursion, like for turtle discovery or night fishing!
The wonderful Infinite Pool where we spent hours relaxing, eating sushi and chatting with the waiters.
The tennis court where I crushed my husband (yep, in my dreams!) and played with the bar manager. The international and Maldivian staff are all super friendly btw!
Our last sunset dinner at the water villa after some snorkeling…
..and our last morning at the spa… Bye bye Hilton.
The capital Male. It has a special charm and is worth a visit, with this cute Presidential Palace, the museum, the mosque…
…and the superb Banyan trees.
Back to the airport island since it was time to leave for Sri Lanka..
Goodbye Maldives.. See you again inshallah! Ohhh yes, definitely!

sigh***

I.Want.to.go.!!!!!! Stunning photos. It looks like you had a date with paradise.
And now this is on my list of places to visit. WOW. Thanks for sharing.

“A date with paradise”, well said! Hope you will be able to go there veeery soon!
I’m hoping to get here real soon! It is absolutely beautiful…thanks for sharing your pictures.
You’re welcome! I hope you will travel there very very soon
It is heavenly beautiful, for all those of you who do want to visit the place, please do plan and visit as soon as you can. With the global warming increasing the sea levels, Maldives will be one of the first populated Islands in the world which will be submerged in water in the future…..
pls don’t remind me… this is soo sad!!
Tell me did you inquire about the price of an island? it has always been my son’s dream to purchase one and I could direct him there, looks heavenly for sure and you look just adorable in your island gear!
Is this a serious question? He really wants to buy an island? Woooow!
I didn’t ask but I read that it’s very hard for hotels to get a license.. Unless your son has “wasta”…
I love these pictures. The Maldives is one of the destinations on my bucket list.
Yes, you should really visit it, it’s really a dream destination! Thanks for your comment
